Roseville Community Programs

The purpose of the Youth Exchange Program (Youth Exchange & Foreign Exchange) is to promote international understanding. An exchange involves a young person aged 15 to 18 years, visiting another country during summer vacation or for a school year under the sponsorship of Rotary.

In the case of a 'summer exchange', the participant will stay at the home of a family in the host country for 3-4 weeks and, at the end of their stay, their host “brother / sister” returns with the U.S. student to be hosted by his / her family for the same period of time.

With ‘school year’ exchanges, Rotary usually selects more than one host family. Extensive orientation programs and careful selection of both students and host families, have assured great success for the vast majority or exchanges.
Exchange students are selected for their academic ability and for qualities that will help them achieve the objectives of the program. These young people enjoy a thoroughly enriching experience. The sponsoring Rotary club or district makes most of the arrangements for the exchange student. The host club or district makes arrangements for the student’s academic program and provides a modest monthly allowance. The air fare is paid by the students parents; usually a special ‘student’ fare.

Applications must be made before the end of October for departure the following August. For further information and application forms contact:
